Strawberry Basil Smash

Makes one cocktail.

  • 1 ½ oz Port Cask Finished Virginia-Highland Whisky
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz strawberry simple syrup*
  • 2 basil leaves

Muddle a basil leaf in a glass. Add all ingredients, top with ice, rim and garnish with a basil leaf.

*Strawberry simple syrup:  1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup sliced and de-leaved strawberries. Add water and sugar into sauce pan and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Add in sliced strawberries and bring mixture to a simmer. Leave simmering for 10 minutes. Reduce heat and continue to stir. Cool and strain mashing strawberries with spoon.
