PORT CASK FINISHED
World Whiskies Awards Best American Blended Malt 2018
Our flagship Port Cask Finished Virginia-Highland Whisky is made from 100% malted barley and showcases both Old World and New World whisky-making. Virginia Distillery Company marries whisky made on-site in Virginia with whisky from Scotland. Cask finishing in port-style wine casks sourced primarily from Virginia adds depth and complexity.
Nancy Fraley, an International spirits nosing expert, has assisted in putting together this flagship whisky and offered the following notes: “On the nose, dried fruit and raisins are evident, along with vanilla and barrel spice. The palate displays hints of toffee, cocoa and toasted oak with a soft finish.”
Enjoy neat, with a cube or a splash of water or in a specialty cocktail.

The Brewers Batch is a new collection being offered under Virginia Distillery Company’s Virginia-Highland Whisky series. This batch features finishing casks sourced from local breweries.
The first batch was done in collaboration with Three Notch’d Brewing, a Central Virginia favorite.
Three Notch’d Brewing created a Wee Heavy style beer especially for this collaboration called “Stage Road”. The brewery used Virginia Distillery Company’s whisky casks to age the beer for a number of months and Virginia Distillery Company took the barrels back for finishing this inaugural release of Brewers Batch. The whisky finished in these casks for 12 months.

Notes of mocha and toffee as well as a hint of cocoa play on the palate. The “Stage Road” beer influence is there, resulting in a rich malty caramel note which accentuates the vanilla notes found in the originating whisky cask.
