AMERICAN CRAFT WHISKY IN VIRGINIA
The Virginia Distillery Company (VDC) joins the emerging movement of craft
distillers in America, offering artisan products produced in small batches.
Our whisky will be crafted with genuine Scottish copper pot stills that
allow for the double distillation essential to the finest malts.
This commitment to quality necessitates a commitment to aging at least
four years. While our Virginia Single Malt is aging, the company has introduced
an innovation for malt drinkers, Eades Double Malt Whisky our small batch
whisky developed exclusively for us and imported from Scotland.

OUR HOME IN NELSON COUNTY VIRGINIA
We are nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in a valley with farms, pastures, orchards, wineries and nationally recognized breweries. Our picturesque site, with creeks, springs and other natural beauty, overlooks the mountains.
We are about 20 minutes from the Wintergreen Resort, a prime Southern ski destination in winter and a superb golf and hiking destination in spring, summer and fall.
One of the things that attracted us to the county was the welcome we received. The local government officials guided us through the process of land clearing, construction, licensing, permitting and all the other complexities of starting a business of this magnitude.
The people from Nelson County have brought a level of excellence to the project that would be hard to match anywhere. Special thanks to Maureen Kelly of the Economic Development Department; Jim Taggart our engineer and Jeff Fletcher of Structures Unlimited who have been our partners in the venture.
BUILDING THE DISTILLERY
Building a distillery involves not only stills, mashtuns and bottling but also warehouses, a visitor’s center, water management, erosion control and landscaping.
