WHISKY FROM SCOTLAND MARRIED WITH VIRGINIA WHISKY DISTILLED FROM MALT MASH

Our flagship Port Cask Finished Virginia-Highland Whisky is made from 100% malted barley and showcases both Old World and New World whisky-making. Virginia Distillery Company marries whisky made on-site in Virginia with whisky from Scotland. Cask finishing in port-style wine casks sourced primarily from Virginia adds depth and complexity.
Nancy Fraley, an International spirits nosing expert, has assisted in putting together this flagship whisky and offered the following notes: “On the nose, dried fruit and raisins are evident, along with vanilla and barrel spice. The palate displays hints of toffee, cocoa and toasted oak with a so finish.”

WHISKY FROM SCOTLAND MARRIED WITH VIRGINIA WHISKY DISTILLED FROM MALT MASH

The Commonwealth Collection showcases a variety of specialty finishes, working with partners throughout Virginia and beyond.
The Cider Cask Finished Virginia-Highland Whisky is made from 100% malted barley, marrying whisky from Scotland with whisky made on-site in Virginia. The whisky is then cask finished for 8 – 12 months in cider casks coming from producers such as Potter’s Craft Cider. This release is offered annually during the fall and is a limited release. Notes of apple, vanilla and pear are evident on the nose along with a hint of caramel.
On the palate, some creaminess and sweetness from the malt, along with caramelized wood sugars from the oak, melds with a pleasant touch of acidity from the cider. Enjoy neat, with a cube or a splash.

The Commonwealth Collection showcases a variety of specialty finishes, working with partners throughout Virginia and beyond.
The Chardonnay Cask Finished Virginia-Highland Whisky is released annually in the Spring, after resting for up to 18 months in Chardonnay finishing casks from a variety of wineries. Each partner barrel brings nuance and complexity to the whisky, with notes of honeysuckle, green apple, lemon and caramel on the nose. Hints of pear and toasted pecans add intrigue on the palate, finishing with a hint of vanilla. Enjoy neat, with a cube or a splash of water.
